Wild Orchid

Wild Orchid

This wild Orchid was photographed on this wonderful spring day in the Forest of Grésige in the northern part of the Tarn. Spring was really showing off with some trees in blossom and a carpet of wild flowers.

This photograph is dedicated to Eric at Paris DP – the guy who got us hooked on this – because it is the second anniversary of PDP. Well done Eric and thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you very much, this is a SUPERB Orchid. (And beautifully photographed, needless to say!)

Nice photo but I'm afraid it is no orchid. It is a Dog's Tooth Violet but it is not even a violet either. It belongs to the Lily family and its Latin name is Erythronium dens-canis.

Fortunately there are many many flowers that are just as interesting and beautiful as orchids, so keep looking and taking pictures.
