Wood Carver - Tourner sur Bois

This young man a wood carver, Guillaume Atrux, showing his skills at the craft fair at l'Isle-sur-Tarn

I have already posted a couple of images from this craft fair because it was an inspiring experience in an exceptionally beautiful setting.

This young man from Ste. Eulalie d'Olt en Aveyron listed as one of the most beautiful village of France, (site in French) made the most amazing wood carving. In this image he is making eggs cups but on a lathe he made himself.

This seems like an impressive craft fair. You have some very talented people.

This photo sums up what I love about France, young people being encouraged to keep tradition alive. In this day and age where globalisation is taking over and everything is about making money isn't great to see real craftsmen in action. I believe that that these 'petit artisans’ are helped by the State, lower social charges, taxes etc, and long may it be so!

It's always nice to see people keeping up with traditional arts. It's very much encouraged here where art forms, like harvesting and weaving with cedar, are dying out slowly. I don't see a vast interst, though, and it's a pity

Hmmm...I don't suppose you got a good picture of his face?

soosh-q, I don't really have a good photo of this young mans face. Most of the photos were contre-jour (now there's a French word that is used in the English language) but here is one although it still does not show his face all that well: Wood Carver

HAHA! You're awesome wilf. It just looked from his profile that he might be a pretty attractive guy. Not quite as attractive as I had imagined, but still worth the look. Thanks darlin!
