A Bug

More than a little late today with my post!

This is my one of competition. If anybody can name this bug by tomorrow they will receive a post card all the way from Réal.

Yes I know other folks are doing this but I just wanted to do it this one time.

Anybody know?

Une cigale - Cicada.

We hear them a lot here too, but they're hard to see with their pine camouflage. I love their chant.

The sound of the summer a 'cigale' in fact I can here them now.

Hi Wilf, it's a cicada......hey, I think there should be a prize for each time zone ;-) Nice shot too, you must have extremely steady hands (of a professional), I most likely won't be able to get a shot like this without tripod

It was nearing midnight and I had shut down my computer pulled all the plugs and was watching the spectacular light show of the approaching storm. The storms had been predicted for the afternoon my Meto France and here it was almost upon us and I had forgotten to post my daily image.

What to do? OK I switched back on and crabbed an image taken in Provence last year. The sound of the cigale which I miss from our short stay in Provence where we lived for 8 months in the village of Allauch pronounced “Allo” This little fellow was taken with my little digital – no macro just point and shoot, at my age my hands are not always steady.

And because of timing I did not think though my competition Lisi, so for now the first three will receive a lovely postcard posted in Réal. The first three winners are Chris, Mark and Lisi so if you let me have your address a postcard will be winging its way to you before you know it - wilfjames@gmail.com

Very good lisi. No you never bug me, it is always a pleasure to see your comments, along with others as well of course. I still do not have broadband and it is such a shame because I do not have the time to look at all the other fine blogs and leave comments.

So I would like to say here I appreciate all who come around to have a look see.

I went and bought the postcards this morning...............

I am a little late to name this bug. However, I think George is appropriate.

That's a very good picture of a cicada. In the USA people sometimes call them "locusts" but those who do are showing their ignorance of the correct name of this insect.
